Drawing Workshop - Wallacespace, London

On sunday 28th June I travelled down to London in order to lead a drawing workshop at Wallacespace, St Pancras. It was held on Monday 29th June with forty one - ten year old children attending.
The youngsters and helpers produced a fabulous display of life sized self portraits using a variety of media. Felt pens, paint pens, collage with paper and material. I had a sticky start with intimidating numbers, and a lousy introduction from myself! But forgiving children (most of them) - once they got started the patches of possitive creativity spread like bush fires.
Glad to have done it. Relieved it ended well.
Thanks Renata....

I have just packed and delivered drawings for the Jerwood Competition - Annie is driving the work to Edinburgh where there is a van pick up point for delivery to London. I shall not be putting an entry on my website if they are rejected, (which is most likely as there are over 2000 entries)... But I hope that there is a good exhibition on in Edinburgh around the 17th July, so that when I have to make the trip down to pick up said rejected works, I have somethng to sweeten the pill.

Return From Zakynthos

Greece 2010

In 2000 I had the opportunity to work with Christopher Forsey in Greece tutoring painting holidays run by the Peligoni Club. Chris and I have just returned from Zakynthos having spent three weeks there, working with two groups of aspiring artists and enjoying the benefits of having worked with the local people and acquired locations on the same island for 9 years.

Joining us for the second year as 'Greek Panorama' was Annie Sturgeon who raised the bar of painting holiday by value adding with Bird Watching.... I will not bore you with the number of delightful birds we spotted with aide of her enthusiastic eye, but if you think of coming to Greece with us to join in with a painting holiday -you may want to pack a pair of binoculars. Another member of the group was a wild a flower expert, so grew the layers of interest.

We always save the 'shall we do it next year' discussion until the flight home. It was a no-brainer this year. The help we had from Stephanos, Mimis and Roula ( accommodation) and the food provided by the local restaurants, and the boat trip to the blue caves, and the sunset at the lighthouse, and the swimming round the island, the meal at Sophia's new restaurant........... And it would be our tenth year next time. - Fancy a trip to Greece for a painting holiday?
